Grace is Not

Being a doormat – Showing grace does not mean you must give in on every point.  A graceful marriage has give and take from equal partners.

Avoiding conflict – This would be setting aside truth or avoiding disagreements for the sake of “peace.”  Any healthy marriage involves ironing out disagreements.

Excusing addictions, abuse, unfaithfulness-- These are serious issues that must be faced.  If someone has a spouse with a chronic addiction, for example, giving grace is not calling the boss to make excuses, but sometimes, graciously and kindly, showing the spouse the door until he/she gets help.
